Matt Feeney is a writer and the author of “Little Platoons: A defense of family in a competitive age” (Basic Books: March 2021). He has written essays on culture and politics for The New Yorker online, Slate, and other publications. He holds a Ph.D. in political philosophy from Duke University and a B.S. in English teaching from Central Michigan University. He taught English at a small-town high school near Flint, Michigan, and has taught political philosophy at Duke, George Washington University, Texas A&M, and Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen, Germany. He was born in Detroit, grew up in Detroit and Chelsea, Michigan, and has lived in Boston, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. He now lives in Oakland, California, with his wife Juliet and their three children.
